The five people killed in a terrible car crash in Surrey yesterday were all from the same south Asian family.

A friend on Facebook has identified them as the Sachdevas: Rina, Neelam and a grandmother, and five-year-old boy Aneesh and three-year-old Jasica.

They own a sweets shop in Surrey.

Surrey RCMP will release more information shortly.

The five family members were killed yesterday when the driver of a minivan ran a red light on 32nd Avenue at 176 street and T-boned their car.

Area businesses are now looking to see what they can do to help out family members of the car crash victims.

The sign on the door of the of the  Sachdeva Sweets and Restaurant says it is closed due to a family emergency.

Nearby  businesses, including one video store owner, say it was shocking to hear of the tragic  crash yesterday.

One man we spoke to says he's angry that people would run red lights, and says nearby businesses will band together to  try to help the family out in their time of need.
