Supporters of a Peachland woman who had her power turned off when she replaced her smart meter with an uncertified analog reader are demanding her power be immediately restored. Sharon Noble with the Coalition to Stop Smart Meters is rejecting BC Hydro's claims the meter Deborah Stutters installed was dangerous.
"This is baloney. It was standar analog that they use in the States. It was tested. It was calibrated.
Noble also says the power company has ignored numerous calls to do the right thing.
"She has been appealing to Hydro. Many of us have called and written to Hydro, to Christy Clark, to Rich Coleman --nothing." Stutters claims she has a valid medical condition preventing the use of a smart meter on her house. Staff with BC Hydro have defended their actions saying the analog meter is illegal and BC Hydro could be held liable if something goes wrong.
