It may feel like summer this weekend, but Metro Vancouver officials are reminding outdoor enthusiasts that winter conditions still exist on many of the North Shore trails.
Spokesman Bill Morrell says the Grouse Grind is still closed and hikers should resist the temptation to go around the fence.
"We hope that common sense prevails. People that do that not only put themselves at risk, they put at risk those first responders who may have to come and get them if they get in trouble. Clearly, we close it because it is unsafe for hiking and we encourage everyone to respect that closure." The Grouse Grind typically opens around the end of May or early June.
