District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue were called out to the Seymour River after a kayaker got into trouble. Assistant Chief Mike Cairns says it happened Tuesday evening.
"We had a report of an overturned kayak coming down the river unmanned with two other kayakers. So when we talked to the kayakers they told us the third kayaker was upstream and that he was out of the water but he needed some assistance getting up the bank."
Cairns says none of the kayakers were injured. He says this is a dangerous time of year to be on the Seymour River as it rages through a steep canyon.
