A UBC law professor is firing back at CTV after being linked to the ongoing senate expense scandal involving Senator Mike Duffy and others.
In a statement Benjamin Perrin calls the CTV story "false."
Perrin says he was not consulted on and in no way participated in the Prime Minister's, now former, chief of staff, writing Mike Duffy a personal check to cover improperly declared expenses.
Perrin adds he and the Prime Minister have also never discussed the issue.
He has just returned to UBC after being on leave to the Prime Minister's office, acting as an advisor.
Canada's Ethics Commissioner has also just launched an investigation into the incident of Mike Duffy getting a check from the Prime Minister's former chief of staff.
Nigel Wright stepped down over the weekend.
The statement in full is below.
May 21, 2013
Last night's CTV story in relation to me, which is based on unattributed sources, is false.
I was not consulted on, and did not participate in, Nigel Wright's decision to write a personal cheque to reimburse Senator Duffy's expenses.
I have never communicated with the Prime Minister on this matter.
In all my work, I have been committed to making our country a better place and I hope my record of service speaks for itself.
