The woman who pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death of a baby at her unlicensed daycare in Coquitlam is heading to jail.
The judge sentenced Maria McFerran to 18 months behind bars. She was led out of court in tears.
Arto Howley died in January 2011 when McFerran left him in a room alone in an unpadded car seat to nap.
He was dead when she checked in on him more than an hour later, strangled by a strap.
The Crown had asked for two to three years in jail. The defence asked for six to 12 months.
