Vancouver Police are reminding you to keep a record of belongings in order to help officers reunite you with your stolen goods.
Sergeant Kevin Bernardin with the Community Policing Unit says it doesn't take long to engrave your driver's license or provincial ID number on items -- and it goes a long way to getting them back to you.
"The amount of reported bicycle thefts has slowly been ever increasing. Our property office has about approximately 300 bikes on hand that are unidentified and we can not link to an owner at this time," says Bernardin.
Bernardin says engravers are available at all community policing centres.
He says if you can't engrave an item, take a picture -- just keep a log of your belongings.
