Tolls and road pricing were on the agenda as the Translink mayors' council sat down this morning to talk about ways to fund future transit expansion.
The Mayor of Burnaby says they're unrealistic ideas.
Derek Corrigan says it's unlikely the provincial government will take that on.
"We're not going to get that authority. They were not prepared to deal with the parking tax. If they were not prepared to deal with the vehicle levy, you can imagine the implications of putting in road pricing."
Corrigan says the government is having enough difficulty with tolls on bridges to move to a full road pricing system.
Translink has an overall goal of 50 percent of trips to be by biking, walking or taking transit within 30 years.
C-E-O Bob Paddon says for that to happen, we'd need to find 23 billion dollars.
