As Abbotsford struggles to deal with the issue of homelessness, one pastor says it's time for the city's many churches to play a leading role in helping those in need.
Five and Two Ministries Pastor Ward Draper says the more than 94 churches that populate his city could be a useful financial tool in the fight against homelessness.
“With the capacity that this community has, both with the church property and church income, they have assets that we could build on to help the least and the marginalized in our community.”
Ward says churches regularly perform outreach within the community.
But, more discussions need to be had between church leaders about how to best use the church's assets to help the city's poorest people.
