Leaders of the Sikh community and law enforcement officials are coming together for what's being billed as an "unprecedented summit" on youth gang violence.
It's a two-day summit that's aimed at educating community leaders about the current gang environment and it's hoped tangible action plans will be developed to prevent violence.
Constable Ian MacDonald with Abbotsford police says parents play a big part in keeping kids out of gangs.
"I think it's people that often don't provide that guidance that end up at the troubled end of the spectrum later on and so the more we can talk and engage and come together to try and find solutions I can't help but think that's the right way to do things."
The RCMP's assisant commissioner will also be there.
