The Criminal Justice Branch says a special prosecutor has been appointed to review a report on the shooting of Paul Boyd.
Vancouver lawyer, Mark Jette has been appointed to review a report submitted by the alberta serious incident reponse team on the 2007 death.
Boyd -- who suffered from bi-polar disorder -- was shot by Vancouver Police eight times on Granville Street.
In 2009, it was decided there would be no criminal charges laid in Boyd's death.
It was announced last year the Alberta team would be investigating Boyd's death after new video and witness information came to light.
The Criminal Justice Branch got that team's report today.
The branch reviewed the original report from Vancouver Police and determined no charges would be approved, so it was decided a special prosecutor from outside the branch should look at this new one.
