Canada's Natural Resources Minister says it is time for Canada to diversify its oil and gas exports.

Joe Oliver says at the moment, Canada essentially has just one customer, the United States, and its costing us,  "100% of our gas exports and 99% of our oil exports currently go to the United States. You know, it is creating a short term problem. There is a big price discount compared to international prices; costing the economy 14 billion dollars a year. We are running out of pipeline capacity in the intermediate term."

Oliver won't comment on the fate of the Northern Gateway oil pipeline saying that is the hands of national review.

The National Energy Board Review Panel will render a decision on the Enbridge proposal at year's end.
