The Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association says tearing down the Georgia and Dunsmuir Street viaducts will affect more than just car traffic.
President and CEO Charles Gauthier, "Certainly trying to find a way to enhance access into the downtown by other modes of transportation. There is obviously a strong component there that deals with bicycles. But, you know, there is also a better transit service along West Georgia Street that needs to be addressed and obviously, I think the pedestrian connections certainly need to be improved."
Gauthier says tearing down the viaducts also raises concerns about the movement of both cars and goods into the downtown core. He says Dunsmuir plays a crucial role in moving southbound traffic.
Gauthier wants to city staff to have a careful look before making a recomendation.
