A new development in the long-running probe into B.C.’s polygamist community of Bountiful.
The RCMP has now delivered its report to special prosecutor Peter Wilson, who will likely spend the next several months reviewing the material and deciding whether to lay any charges.
Criminal Justice Branch spokesperson Neil Mackenzie says Wilson’s mandate includes considering possible charges of sexual exploitation of children dating back to the early 1980s.
"His mandate also includes the consideration of potential offences contrary to the polygamy provisions of the Criminal Code, but at this point I can't really get into the specifics of the content of the material that's been provided."
He adds the RCMP will likely have more material for Wilson in the months ahead.
