The BC NDP is accusing the Liberal government of trying to buy an employee's silence in the “quick wins" ethnic outreach scandal.
Opposition Leader Adrian Dix quoted from a memo that was sent to former communications director Brian Bonney last year.
Dix claims the memo refers to a staffer who was not happy with the quick wins strategy to win ethnic votes.
"Quote: ‘If need be, offer X dollars per month to do non-public work up to the election.’ In other words, Honourable Speaker, this was a scheme to silence an employee by making an offer because she had information that if revealed would quote damage the premier and the party.”
The e-mail was released by the government after the election. It does not identify the person Bonney was talking about, nor does it prove he or she was a government employee.
