The BC Coroners Service says Glee star Cory Monteith was killed by a mix of alcohol and heroin.

The 31-year-old was found dead in his downtown Vancouver hotel room just after noon on Saturday.

When he failed to check out of the room, staff checked on him and found his body.

Monteith had long struggled with abuse, and had recently undergone a stint in rehab.

The BC Coroners Service says there is nothing to suggest his death is anything other than a "tragic accident."

Vancouver Police say it's case closed for them, and they are not going to be investigating where Monteith got the heroin from.

"We're not providing exactly what we found at the scene," Const. Brian Montague says. "Anything that was found at the scene that would be of evidence would be turned over to the coroner because it is now their investigation. The police investigation has been concluded and unless new information comes to light, we won't be proceeding further."

The memorial outside the hotel has been growing.

People continue to come by to add to the dozens of flowersboquets and personal cards and notes covering the hotel sidewalk.

Abbotsford middle school teacher and longtime Glee fan Sarah Dussin says how montieth died is a clear lesson that money and fame don't buy happiness.

“I think it's sad that someone so young and so talented gave up to drugs and I know it's an addicition and it's hard but for somebody who's wealthy and has resources, I just think that it's really sad that it ended the way it did."
