If you take the Pattullo Bridge, you're going to have to find another route this weekend.
It's the first of three weekend shut downs so crews can do maintenance on the 76-year-old span.
The other closures will occur on the weekends of Aug. 10 and 24.
The bridge is in desperate need of seismic upgrades, but Translink's Jiana Ling says those will happen later.
"Those upgrades are not yet defined. We are currently in the process of looking for a project manager. We will bring forward and secure a solution no later than fall of next year."
The weekend repairs should wrap-up by 3 a.m. Monday.
The NDP's transit critic says the BC Liberals pledged to allow a reasonable untolled alternative to the Port Mann.
George Heyman says the government needs to keep that promise and drop the tolls when the Pattullo, free to cross, is closed for maintence.
“I expect that there will be a significant number of complaints over the three weekends that the bridge is being closed.”
Heyman says other routes being suggested during the closure, such as the Alex Fraser Bridge and Massey tunnel, can take anywhere from two to five times longer.
